I've tutored organic chemistry and various introductory to advanced biology courses. In the moment of tutoring, the tutee, is exercising their working memory (an extension of short-term memory that pulls from long-term memory). Part of working memory is the visuospatial sketchpad, a cognitive tool that when exercised enhances a students ability spatially manipulate complex images/ideas. For any of the sciences, spatial comprehension is essential. Therefore, when I teach, I rely heavily on drawings and schematics, while additionally, emphasizing the etymology behind nomenclature.
I'm a young, aspiring scientist, medical provider and educator. My journey has been exciting, I'm a registered EMT, I've taught various subjects, I reserached Valley Oak trees and now I study diabetes as an honors student. I volunteer at various clinics/events, scribe for an ER doctor and, pre-COVID, I worked at a nursing home caring for the developmentally disabled. On a personal note, I adore science fiction, fantasy games/stories/movies, football (Saints fan) and most of all, my family.
AP level biology/chemistry courses, which may take additionally preparation on my behalf, will be tutored at 12$ an hour.
