About Chantel
"Violin playing has remained my primary musical focus since I was 5 years old. My foundation is built on rigorous Suzuki methods while I maintain a busy career performing within the New York Philharmonic. During my 11 years of experience, I have worked with grade exam candidates and self-taught players seeking technical structure.
I find great satisfaction in helping students master left hand agility and complex rhythm. My approach is focused on clarity and technical precision for every student.
Teaching brings me into contact with diverse goals ranging from casual interest to conservatory preparation. I prioritize the development of reliable tuning by ear as a core competency. These years of practice have refined my ability to translate professional standards into actionable guidance."

"Instruction begins with a simple tuning check before we explore the nuances of a specific passage. I utilize my MMus Violin Performance background to explain the physics of vibrato and position shifting in ways that feel logical.
Lessons prioritize sight reading and music theory to ensure students understand the internal architecture of their classical repertoire. Because I also teach piano, I understand how double study influences a musician's timing.
My 11 years of instruction inform the pacing of every session to ensure that complex movements are broken down effectively. You will find that our time together focuses on consistent technical improvement through patient repetition.
We move through difficult sections with a sharp eye for detail. I enjoy watching students build their confidence as their sound quality improves over time. Sharing this process is a highlight of my week."
