About Areum
Areum is a professional ballerina with 18 years of experience performing on international stages. Based in New York City, she combines her deep technical knowledge with a passion for teaching. She has worked with students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to aspiring professionals. Areum is known for her clear instruction, patience, and encouraging teaching style.
In addition to ballet, she currently teaches K-Pop dance to children in an after-school program. She also offers private K-Pop lessons for kids and is invited to lead group events such as birthday parties or masterclasses. Areum ensures that even children who have never danced before can follow along easily and enjoyably, making dance fun and accessible. Areum currently teaches K-Pop dance to children ages 3 to 12 in an after-school program at a school in Manhattan, and she also offers private lessons for children as well as K-Pop dance classes for adults. Through this experience, she has worked with students of various ages and skill levels.
Before the first lesson, students may select the K-Pop song they wish to learn, and the class will focus on that choreography on the day of the lesson. Each session is structured with ballet-based stretching, watching the choreography video, and step-by-step dance instruction. The lessons are designed so that even complete beginners can join comfortably and have fun.
Areum’s classes are particularly suitable for those new to K-Pop or beginner dancers. As a professional ballerina, she incorporates ballet stretching into her lessons, helping students improve posture and flexibility. For children interested in Korean culture, there is also the option to naturally hear and engage with the Korean language from a native Korean teacher.
