About Mbombo

I have preciously worked as a substitute teacher at a public school for about six months. Afterwards, I have continued working as a classroom French teacher upon earning a B.A and a single subject teaching credential in French at San Francisco State University.

About the lesson

I use PowerPoint everyday to present a mini lesson plan of my objective(s) of the day, the activities that align with it and a formal or informal assessment of the lesson(s) taught. I do use online academic websites such as TV5Monde, Mango, Quizlet, 1jour1actu, etc. My activities are based on small novels that I introduced to students based on their level. Each novel is accompanied with a created written activities, skits, games and videos to help students with the interpersonal, presentational and Interpretive communication. I also use similar online activities for movies and songs. After we are done with a Novel students are allowed to practice for Role Plays in pair or groups. The goal is always to achieve academic literacy in reading, writing, listening and speaking. I do adjust my lesson plans to give a voice to students by incorporating what they want to learn. For instance, my students have memorized the chorus to some popular and fun songs such as “French Kiss”, “Au bal masque”, “Chaud le cacao”; along with cultural ones such as “Alouette”, “frere Jacques”, “Tête, épaules,genoux, pieds” etc. At their request my students have also watched the French version of “Ratatouille”, “La princesse de Neige”, “Black Panther” etc. We also did several field trips to MoMa museum for paintings exhibitions and/or the preview of an upcoming French movie by a new producer before it is released to the great public. Teaching is a lot like cooking, we make dishes based on the ingredients and tools at our disposal.
