About Leona
I am an experienced primary school teacher who believes that with the right support every child can succeed and feel confident. I love learning and am passionate about inspiring this in my students.
I have over 15 years experience teaching all subjects across the primary age range. I have also tutored pupils both individually and in small groups to target specific gaps. My background in psychology means I have a good understanding of how children learn which I can use to identify and overcome barriers to learning, adapting my lessons to meet individual needs.
I am also 'Muddy Puddle' trained and can take face-to-face lessons outside if required. I am passionate about the positive effects of outdoor learning on children. Including practical activities is not only fun but is more memorable and helps to secure understanding.

I try to make lessons fun, engaging and interesting while ensuring key concepts are understood and skills mastered. I will personalise lessons to your learning style. I have considerable experience working with children with special educational needs and neurodivergence, so am able to adapt my approaches to meet their needs.
I have a PGCE teaching qualification, BSC degree in Psychology, Masters degree in Primary Education and A-Levels in English, Maths, Further Maths & Psychology. As well as many years teaching in Year 6, I have also been part of the county moderation team for KS2 SATs so have a wealth of experience in preparing pupils for SATs.
I am a Maths Mastery Specialist and use this approach to develop confidence alongside a deep and secure understanding.
Lessons can range from 30mins to 1 hour.
