About Sarah
I am an undergraduate student of French and Political Science at Northern Michigan University. I learned to speak the language with a teacher from Morocco. I have studied French for eight years, and I have tutored in French at my university for the last two years.

I care about teaching proper pronunciation and grammar, and a key principle of my philosophy is that it is impossible to learn a new language if one is constantly afraid of correction. There is no shame in mistakes, but one must be willing to receive correction for his inevitable mistakes.
My specific tactics involve a combination of speaking and writing exercises for grammatical concepts as well as new vocabulary use. I also have students read/listen to and discuss French news articles and literature. As a general rule, I like to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking to similar degrees. And I think it is important to review previous topics periodically in order to help students retain vocabulary and obscure grammatical rules.
Beyond my natural teaching tendencies, I have found that it is imperative to adapt teaching styles for different individuals. I understand that everybody has unique strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning a new language.
