About Tyler
I'm a professional Bassist, Educator, Composer and Bandleader with 15 years of experience, based in Toronto. I have been playing the bass since the age of 16, graduating from with a B. Mus from Humber College in 2015. There, I was lucky enough to learn from the best musicians in Canada and from around the World - since then I've been gigging, teaching, recording, and refining my craft any way I can. I've been teaching bassists of all levels, one-on-one, for the last 5 years and have found the experience to be uniquely rewarding. My students have come to me from all corners of the globe, with interests running the gamut of musical genres - my approach to this instrument has brought positive results to each of them!

I've been taking lessons with Tyler for a few months now and it has been great! I have been making progress with my technique, confidence, and repertoire on the instrument thanks to our lessons. He does a good job of designing and delivering a personalized program that accounts for my personal context (I'm brand new to bass / string instruments but have previous experience with piano and music theory). He is always positive and encouraging while still keeping me on track with putting in the work and improving, which is a balance I really appreciate.
Tyler is a great bass teacher who I have taken lessons with for two years now. He’s very adept at finding different ways to explain or demonstrate a technique or musical concept to help students of differing levels of knowledge and experience grasp it. He’s great a pivoting his lessons to match the musical goals and interests of students. Also a very encouraging teacher that is great at reminding you that learning an instrument is a marathon not a sprint and to take joy out of the small steps and improvements which is quite helpful in keeping the motivation to keep at it. Highly recommend him as a bass and music theory teacher.
I knew Tyler from playing gigs together, so when i decided to take up the bass, he was the first one I asked! Tyler has been a great and patient teacher. He has been flexible with my crazy schedule, and always happy to jump in where I'm at. Plus, he makes taking on a new instrument fun!
Tyler's great at designing a learning plan for each individual student, and tailoring lessons to meet their goals. He's dedicated and focused and supportive, and always a joy to work with!
