About David

David K Bagley is an active and internationally acclaimed director, choreographer, educator, and dance artist whose virtuosity bleeds into many movement forms. Throughout his career, he has performed with a panoply of reputable people and artists working alongside celebrities Sandra Bullock, Jerry Lewis, Taylor Kitsch, Michael B Jordan, Demi Lovato, Richard Dreyfus, Mitzi Gaynor, Cathy Rigby, Peter Berg, Taryn Southern, Pentatonix, Twenty One Pilots, NATALITA, billionaire business moguls David Dewhurst and George & Julia Argyros, and The Royal Family of Monaco. He has choreographed for and danced in productions by the likes of NBC, ABC, Fox 7, Disney, Audi, Red Bull, Industry Dance Awards, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Cruise Line, Viking Cruises, Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival, and more. Mr. Bagley has had the honor to tour the world with his own company of dancers and has gone on performing tours with companies such as Backhausdance, Boogiezone's Entity Contemporary Dance Company, TOKYO'sthecompany, POV Dance Company, Ballet Magique, Bad Boys of Ballet, XY Dance Project, Stiletto Entertainment, Emmy award-winning RWS Entertainment, and Rasta Thomas’ Bad Boys of Dance. He has had the pleasure to share his knowledge and passion for dance as a master educator/choreographer at over 90+ acclaimed dance institutions, universities, conventions, and podcasts throughout the world including EDGE Performing Arts Center (LA), Showbiz National Talent, Broadway Dance Center, Capezio’s Peridance Studios, Joffrey Ballet (NYC), The Lab Dance Convention, PUSH Dance Intensive, TOKYOtheacademy, California Dance Classics, ABT’s Summer Intensive, The DancePRENEURING Studio Podcast, Dance USA Conference, Chapman University, University of Hawaii, Whittier College, and the University of Arizona. Many of his pupils are working professionals in the entertainment industries of NYC, LA, Las Vegas, and abroad. Many hold national/world dance titles, received part or full collegiate dance scholarships to top university dance programs, and have been featured talent in popular shows like Dance Moms, Ellen, America’s Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance & SYTYCD Jrs, immaBEAST Network, Nickelodeon, Disney, Cirque du Soleil and numerous other world tours and viral dance videos. As a concert performer, David has danced works by iconic concert choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Alexi Ratmansky, Martha Graham, Larry Keigwin, Jose Limon, Derrell Moultrie, Jenny Backhaus, Beverly Blossom, Nijawwon Matthews, Ronnie Todorowski, Adrienne Canterna, Rasta Thomas, Terry Schulke, John Charron, and many more. David takes pride in composing his own professionally developed perspectives and practices into a full-functioning curriculum for his students. The fluidity of his style and approach to performing arts education allows for anyone to be able to participate. David prides his work as a fully inclusive multi-sensory experience and supports all communities, demographics, and identities he encounters. He has been invited for residencies and/or to perform and present his work at various Art Festivals and Charity events such as MOVEtheWORLD, Dance for Life (AIDS), Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe Arts Festival, and India’s Anveshana Dance Theater. He holds a BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography from Chapman University and an MFA in Dance Performance/Choreography from the University of Arizona’s School of Dance. Since the spring of 2020, David has been an on-call Show Director/Choreographer for Celebrity Cruise Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. He has also been featured in Dance Magazine.

About the lesson

Ultimately dance is about love, passion, acceptance, innovation, inclusiveness, and pure human expression. It is a transcendent portal to the unknown, a wormhole to different perspectives. A magnificent collision of universal and anatomical vibrations.

I strive to make work that is conceptual and compelling. It is of utmost importance for a well-developed performing artist to have the capacity to clearly push ideas, tell narratives, and evoke new ideologies. I use personalized methodological mantras and meditations to provoke various new perspectives within my creation and training experiences. Philosophically, I have an epistemological approach, used to research the full depths of knowledge, nature, experience, or intention of dance. Creatively, I have an axiological approach, focusing on the value, ethics, and aesthetics of the movement in search to find new harmonious combinations. I try to display human movements in hyper-real & surreal multi-dimensional visceral dance performance experiences.

My choreographic style is fluid and always changing with the roots always based on a variety of themes, concepts, structures, and intentions. I believe human movement is universal and thus widely comprehendible and translatable. Dance movement, as a refined form, can act as a powerful and articulate form of representation and change, often breaking down barriers that separate us as people. A powerful action of change.

I hold a sincere responsibility as an artist and educator, and like text inside a book, I believe dance is a kinesthetic way of preserving knowledge, history, and culture from all demographics around the globe. I work both individually and collaboratively amongst all other professionals, students, and enthusiasts. I firmly believe dance is and should be inclusive to all beings. A daily practitioner of ephemeral movement, my relentless artistic pursuit, and habitual critical and creative practices allow me to manifest, research, and investigate a wide range of creative outcomes. Many of my pupils are working professionals in the entertainment industry.
