About Brian
I was a community ESL and Spanish tutor for over 4 years in Central California. I worked 1 on 1 as well as small groups and with classes with 25+ students. I have had many a student come to my and tell me I helped them get past their plateau or to understand certain concepts they had not been able to understand before.

My main focus is on pronunciation in both languages. I also like to stress the importance of grammar and punctuation. That does not mean I am a task master, but I do feel it is very important for everyone to be able to communicate effectively both through speaking and writing. That being said, if your main focus is more on the conversational aspect, we can certainly work on that exclusively and not worry about the written element of the language. Having studied many languages (7+), I like to tie in what we are learning with some history, etymology, and other linguistic curiosities that you may find interesting like did you know that Spanish has more than 700 words that are directly taken from Arabic? Similarly, around 25% of English words actually have French origins!
