About Josh

On September 19, 1997, a ragamuffin musician was called home to heaven. Oddly enough, five days later another was born. If you're looking for a normal teacher, keep looking; he is simply different.

Josh Miller had music in his life at every stage of his small-town south Louisiana upbringing. Singing along with the radio, marching in the drumline, enlisting in worship teams, and gathering friends to sing harmonies were all part of The Lord's plan for him. By the time he finished high school, he was crazy enough to follow that plan willingly even though it involved pursuing a music degree.
In college, as his love for music deepened, his trust in God was challenged. He was never one to conform to the mainstream, and that resulted in him usually being the outcast. In 2018 he founded a band called Levi Square, and it was filled with other musicians who stood out from the crowds; the band became like a family until 2020.
Then that trust in God was strained. After graduation, Josh turned down a prosperous worship leadership job at a church that he couldn't truly call home and instead followed a divine lead across the state line. He studied worship leadership at a seminary in Fort Worth, but halfway through the first semester, God derailed the masters degree plan and unveiled a calling to teach as he was finally ready for it.
Today the younger ragamuffin continues to invite the outcasts into this family called Levi Square. Everything else has changed; he has moved several times, haphazardly started a business, and gotten married to his wife Gretchen. But the mission remains the same, and so does the God who called him to be different.

Josh holds a bachelors of arts in music and worship leadership from Louisiana College (2020). He has studied percussion since 2009, guitar since 2011, vocal harmony since 2012, composition since 2013 vocal technique since 2014, ukulele since 2015, piano since 2016, leadership since 2017, basic sound production since 2021, and hammer dulcimer since 2024.

About the lesson

Lessons are form-fitted to the student's unique style of learning and playing, all with a goal of excellence. Students will be challenged but can also have fun and be richly encouraged.
We offer lessons on singing, guitar, piano, bass guitar, ukulele, kazoo, and armpit... Okay, those last two were a joke. All subjects also include ear-training and music theory.
What's more, enrollment in lessons comes with optional performing opportunities with the band Levi Square. In our musical family, we invite musicians into a place where they can belong.

Thank you for your interest in music lessons!
First of all, the first four lessons are FREE, no strings attached.
After that, you will receive a custom monthly price for subsequent lessons if you choose to continue. No pressure. The price depends mostly on the total consecutive time per week you are booking, as well as the time of day that lessons will take place. If lessons are offered in your home, the transportation time for the instructor also affects the price.
For example, a half-hour per week of lessons near Fort Worth after 3pm on weekdays might cost around $190/month, or $150/month if before 3pm on weekdays. An hour per week will generally be around $350/month after 3pm or $280/month before 3pm on weekdays.
