About Jared

I am a science and mathematics tutor with a strong academic background in biomedical science and several years of hands-on research experience. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Immunology and Medical Microbiology, graduating Cum Laude, where I developed a deep understanding of biology, chemistry, and quantitative scientific thinking. During my time in research laboratories at institutions such as West Virginia University and the University of Minnesota, I studied topics ranging from molecular biology to neurological disease, which strengthened my ability to analyze complex scientific problems and communicate them clearly.

Throughout my academic and professional career, I’ve consistently worked in environments where explaining complex information clearly and accurately was essential. Whether in the lab, clinical research settings, or working alongside physicians, I developed a strong ability to translate difficult scientific concepts into language that others can understand. That same skill is the foundation of how I approach tutoring.

My goal as a tutor is to help students not only improve their grades, but also build confidence in subjects that can often feel intimidating. Science and mathematics become much easier when the underlying logic is clear, and I enjoy helping students reach that moment when things finally “click.” I aim to create a supportive, patient learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems step by step.

Outside of tutoring, I also run a media production company that produces educational and informational content, which further reflects my passion for communication and making complex ideas accessible. I bring that same clarity and enthusiasm into every tutoring session, helping students develop stronger problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of STEM subjects.

My approach to tutoring focuses on building true understanding rather than memorization. I work with students to break complex science and mathematics concepts into clear, logical steps so they can see why something works, not just how to solve it. I combine visual explanations, guided problem-solving, and real-world examples to make difficult topics more intuitive. Because of my background in biomedical science and laboratory research, I often connect abstract ideas to real scientific applications, which helps students understand the bigger picture and stay engaged.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of the student’s current material and any questions from recent assignments. From there, we identify the key concept that needs clarification. I explain the concept step-by-step, often using diagrams, analogies, or worked examples. After that, the student practices solving problems while I guide them through the reasoning process. By the end of the session, students should feel confident tackling similar problems on their own. I also like to leave students with a few practice questions or study strategies they can use between sessions.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of academic training and real-world scientific experience. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Immunology and Medical Microbiology and worked in laboratory research studying neurological disease and molecular biology. This background allows me to explain complex scientific ideas clearly while also helping students understand how these subjects are actually used in the real world. I focus heavily on building confidence and critical thinking skills so students become independent learners rather than relying on memorized formulas.

My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and early college students taking courses in biology, chemistry, and general science, as well as mathematics through algebra and introductory statistics. I work especially well with students preparing for exams, struggling with difficult concepts, or looking to strengthen their overall STEM foundation. Lessons can be tailored to specific classes, homework assignments, test preparation, or long-term academic improvement.
