I was a TAII for UTSA for two years teaching the Biochemistry Laboratory (3000 Level) and Advanced Physiology Laboratory (3000 Level). During that time I conducted several one-on-one supplemental instruction sessions with a wide variety of students each with a unique learning preference. I have also been a volunteer with the San Antonio Communities in School STEM program as a mentor for 6th through 8th graders for the past year.
I understand that many of the technical elements of science can be offputting, as such, I approach my lessons from the interest perspectives of the student as best as possible to demonstrate the relevance of principals.
