About Igor

I hold a degree in Physical Therapy from Brazil and have been working for over 15 years in Los Angeles as a private swimming instructor, teaching babies, children, and adults. My passion for the water began at age six, when I took my very first swimming class. Since then, swimming has become an essential part of my life, bringing both joy and purpose—first as an athlete and later as an instructor. My background includes nine years at the swimming academy of an Olympic gold medalist, where I gained in-depth knowledge of techniques, safety, and the sport as a whole. In addition, my practice in triathlon and open-water swimming has given me fresh perspectives on the aquatic world, shaping a multidimensional approach to my teaching. Today, I am part of the Masters Swim Team in West Hollywood, California, as well as an open water Swim Team in Brazil, where I train during the winter break. I am also the author of the children’s book Dive into Safety: Exploring the Water with Friends, which blends education and fun to teach kids about water safety in an engaging and creative way.

About the lesson

My swimming lessons are carefully designed to address the unique needs and goals of each student—whether it’s a 6-month-old baby taking their first steps into the water, or an adult looking to refine advanced skills. I bring extensive experience, particularly with children ages 3 to 6, who make up the core of my students.

Techniques & Methods

Adaptability: Every swimmer has a different personality and learning rhythm. I adjust my approach to meet each student’s individual needs.

Safety & Comfort: Creating a safe and welcoming environment is my priority, helping students feel confident in and around the water.

Gradual Progression: I blend playful, progressive techniques for children with structured, technical instruction for adults and athletes.

Hands-On & Theoretical Learning: Practical demonstrations paired with clear explanations ensure understanding and mastery.

Class Structure

Personalized Planning: Lessons are tailored to each student’s skill level and goals, with pacing adapted to their abilities.

From Basics to Advanced: Instruction ranges from floating and breath control to competitive strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

Safety First: Emphasis on water safety practices, careful pool entry/exit, and survival techniques.

Playful Learning for Kids: Games and fun activities foster confidence and motor coordination.

Ongoing Feedback: Constructive feedback throughout ensures steady progress.
