About Kelly

I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I have taught privately for many decades. Also have studied the Suzuki Method and can teach that way if the student desires it. Of course depending on the age of the student, the parent must become more involved. Many of my students have earned division 1 ratings in local contests. Some of my older high school students have earned a chair in the All State Orchestra event over the years. I have played professionally in several different orchestras throughout my state (both first and second violin) so I am familiar with the repertoire. I compose and arrange music for my professional string quartet which plays for various events such as weddings in the area.

About the lesson

I have training in traditional teaching method and in Suzuki training method (Mother Tongue). Finding the positive aspects of a student's improvement during a lesson is a necessary part of my teaching style. The age levels of my students have ranged from preschool and up to those in their 50's or older.

The level of teaching would be aimed at the beginner (those who can read the printed word) who can work on their own with little/some parental supervision or older students (especially since this would be an online lesson).

I make up games, use incentives to motivate students. All in good natured fun. Never to be negative.

I can take a student from Suzuki Book 1 through Suzuki Book 10. I have used Wohlfahrt method books and many others.
