About James
I am a songwriter, producer, musician and artist based in North London. I am also a Professor on the Electronic & Produced Music course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. I have been teaching for many years, with students including Abigail Morris (The Last DInner Party), and pride myself on the belief that inspiration should be at the heart of effective learning. I received a First Hons. degree in Electronic Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. My lessons are fun, rewarding and effective.

I tailor each lesson to every individual and believe fully in teaching and supporting you in whatever it is you want to learn. My years of expertise in the industry mean lessons are fun, productive and, most of all, inspiring.
I believe inspiration should be at the heart of learning. My teaching style revolves around understanding the fundamentals, and how mastering these fundamentals can lead to achieving whatever your goal might be.
Whether learning mixing, music production, Ableton live or songwriting, I focus lessons on the path to achieving short term, mid term and long term goals. It is this style that has lead my other students' to pursue incredibly successful careers in music.
My teaching experience, having taught the likes of Abigail Morris (Lead singer, The Last Dinner Party), in conjunction with my pedagogical studies at university, has provided me with an excellent understanding on the importance of different learning styles. I am eager to ignite the same inspiration in music and passion for discovery in others as I felt throughout my time as a music student, as well as open the door for more students who have struggled with learning an instrument or music production before.

Hugely knowledgeable, skilled and thoughtful. James is kind and fun, and his extensive industry experience and expertise with production, songwriting and music meant that every lesson we were able to dive into whatever area I was struggling with in detail but in a way that I could understand. Even after the first lesson I felt so inspired and learnt so much. Cannot recommend enough!
James is always responsive and punctual, with a great memory to ensure continuity between classes. Encouraging and supportive, he has combined industry knowledge, theory and practice brilliantly in the sessions while ensuring to leave room for creativity and unique style to develop.
