About Henry
Henry Chango earned his BS in 1987 and MS in 2009, both degrees in Civil Environmental and Transportation Engineering from the University of Rhode Island (URI), as well as his American Citizenship in 1987. He worked in the Engineering Professional Field at Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) for 16 years and for the past ten (10) years he has been working for a private construction company, D’Ambra Construction Co., Inc. as a project manager and contract Administrator. Henry has been an active member of the Rhode Island Transportation Research Center (RITRC) during the past four years functioning under Dr. Kane Wayne Lee at URI as well as a panel member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) under the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) for the past two (2) years in Washington, DC.
While an undergraduate at URI, Henry became an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) student chapter. He is a first generation college graduate in his family. His father was a farmer and his mother a seamstress. However, they always emphasized to their children the importance of higher education and culture. Henry was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. At the age of seventeen, he and his family immigrated to the United States in 1977. Henry attended two years of High School and graduated in 1979 from Central Falls High in RI. He was also an Upward Bound graduate, class of 1979, from Rhode Island College (RIC) summer program.
Henry has over sixteen years experience teaching all levels, first grade through college, mostly in Mathematics. In the past fifteen years, he has also taught GED classes for adult education focusing on ESL and Mathematics, as well as, Engineering courses, and adult foreign language courses (Arabic and Aramaic).
Since 1995, Henry has worked as an instructor and tutor for the Upward Bound program, Project Rhode Island Rural Adult Learning (RIRAL), and Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island (DIIRI) teaching all levels of Mathematics and Arabic to their Students. In 2005, Henry became an adjunct faculty member for the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), teaching Engineering and Mathematics courses, as well as teaching Arabic for URI and recently taught online and lectures college level Mathematics courses for Roger Williams University (RWU), as well as, Johnson & Wales University (JWU) while employed full time as a Professional Engineer.
As an engineering contract administrator, Henry has taken on many leadership positions and opportunities over the years. He has trained and evaluated many engineering technicians, given instructive presentations at conferences, supervised field inspections on statewide highway and bridge construction projects for Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), and operated and managed multimillion dollar statewide Federal and State aid construction projects.
Among his accomplishments, Henry was:
• Awarded as an “Outstanding Alumni Honoree class 1979” of Upward Bound Program at Rhode Island College
by the Congressman Mr. James Langevin at the 40th Outstanding Alumni Honorees ceremony.
• Presented “Whitetopping Concrete Product” for United States Korean Conference (UKC), which was held in
State of North Carolina for summer 2009.
• Presented for Massachusetts Concrete & Aggregate Procedures Association (MaCAPA), which was held in
State of Massachusetts for January 2010.
In 1994, he published a children’s book, “Aramaic Alphabet Reading and Coloring,” and authored an Introduction to Arabic-English text book (not yet published) for college level students which he has used in his classes.
Henry has a passion for helping his students succeed. His special teaching techniques make him one of the most popular, sought-after instructors by students.

I provide full explanation of the subject matter with good notes and examples.
As a 2009 graduate of the University of Rhode Island (URI) with an MS in Civil Engineering in May 2009, I have acquired teaching experience on all levels (Adult Education programs, high schools, and colleges) in both suburban and urban school and educational institution districts.
Over the years, I have developed an innovative approach to teaching and conducting research with undergraduates through creating and presenting course materials in both Online or Math Laboratory and lecture (classroom) settings. In my experience, the best teaching is hands-on examples, so I engage students in my courses by encouraging the maximum online participation possible under Blackboard, Bridges, and MyMathLab by Pearson Publication, WebAssign by Cengage Publication and ALEKS.com by McGraw-hill publications or similar programs.
It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your school district. I would welcome an interview and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
Kindly, refer to my resume attached for your review and consideration.
Sincerely,
Henry Chango
Adjunct Faculty CCRI/RWU/JWU
