About Noel
I am originally from France and hold a Master’s degree in Computer Programming. I worked for major companies such as Alcatel-Space, Aérospatiale, and Thales before moving to Canada in 2004. I spent two years in Quebec and eleven years in Calgary, where I worked as a programmer in the oil and gas fracking sector. During that time, I also tutored French for students aged 10 to 14.
Today, I live in Kelowna, British Columbia. I am currently a trader, but I have also written a screenplay titled Nino, which is currently under review at The Black List. Finally, I am an avid athlete, particularly in running and cycling. The area here is very hilly and quite undulating, which is a real joy.
I love teaching and seeing my students make progress; it is a wonderful reward and a source of great pride for me.

My Teaching Approach
As a tutor, my goal is to turn language learning into a practical, logical skill. I am Noël, and I believe that true fluency comes from building a strong, thematic foundation rather than just memorizing abstract rules.
My Methodology
I use a thematic approach focused on active repetition. We build vocabulary and phraseology by topic (Finance, Travel, Sport, etc.). By mastering one thematic "block" before moving to the next, we ensure deep retention. My lessons are designed to be cumulative; we constantly cycle back to previous themes, ensuring that everything you learn remains sharp and usable.
A Typical Lesson
Review: A quick, targeted exercise covering vocabulary from the previous session.
Core Theme: Introduction of a new set of phrases and expressions linked to a specific topic.
Active Practice: Oral and written exercises focused on repeating and using these new structures in real-life contexts.
Integration: Combining the new lesson with older material to reinforce long-term memory.
