About Shannon

In addition to teaching, I am a theatre and film/tv actress in the NYC area, which provides me with relevant and up-to-date info I can pass on to my students. I have been teaching private lessons in acting, musical theatre, audition technique, and college auditions for 5 years now, and I have seen my students have incredible success. I graduated from one of the top BFA programs in the country, and I worked as an assistant in casting the incoming freshman for the program. This experience gives me exclusive knowledge about what college programs are looking for to pass onto my students.

I also specialize in helping students with the professional audition process as well. This includes the recent move to self-tapes our business has made with COVID!

About the lesson

Hello there! My name is Shannon Haskell, and I am a professional actor based in New York City. During my 15+ years of experience in this business, I have been able to curate a curriculum for my students to navigate the ins and outs of the theatre AND film world. I have been teaching private lessons for around 5 years now, and my students have been able to book live theatre, films, and hone their audition technique with my help! I also specialize in assisting those auditioning for college programs put their best foot forward in the audition process.

What sets me apart:

- 5 years teaching experience
- 3 years working as a casting assistant to one of the nation's top BFA Acting and Musical Theatre Programs
- My love for my students!

Lessons will be specific to each student, but a typical curriculum will involve
- Developing a personalized warm up (Linklater influenced)
- Exploring multiple acting techniques in order to add to the actor's "toolbox" (Stanislavsky, Hagen, Meisner, Practical Aesthetics, etc)
- Script and character analysis
- Vocal and physical health
- Audition technique
- Discovering each individual's path in acting

It is my hope that all of my students can learn important skills relevant to the business while explore who they are as an actor!

She is honest with you but not without helping you through roadblocks in the process. I wish I could have Shannon coach every self tape session that I do.
