About Caitlyn
I have been teaching professionally for almost a decade and have been fervently art-making since early childhood.
I hold a BFA in Drawing with a minor in Art History from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and a painting-focused MFA from Columbia Columbia Chicago. I also studied Oil Painting at Kanazawa Art College in Japan for a year and a half.
I have been teaching Art classes at colleges for 2 years now and classes for adults and children at public art centers for the past 6 years.
As an artist, I often show my paintings and drawings at galleries and sell commissioned art as well!

I emphasize a hands-on approach, helping students gain familiarity with various tools, mediums, and techniques.
Typical lessons will start with fast warmup exercises like gesture sketching and/or a review of previous topics. The lesson then dives into new material, perhaps a new style of painting or a new subject depending upon the student's goals and interests!
Mistakes are how we learn. I foster a light-hearted, safe, and fun space for students to experiment and conquer new challenges.
I have experience teaching ages 4-90 with wide differences in experience levels. I am prepared to cater the lesson to your specific needs.
