About Aparna

I am a professional artist and passionate designer who believes in making creativity accessible and enjoyable. I focus on understanding each student’s unique style, guiding them with patience and simple techniques. My teaching blends fundamentals like sketching and color with creative expression. I create a supportive space where students build confidence, explore ideas, and develop their own artistic voice, whether they are beginners or looking to refine their skills.
My sessions focus not just on technique—such as sketching, composition, color theory, and mixed media—but also on developing a strong visual voice. I encourage students to observe the world around them, think creatively, and translate emotions and ideas into their work.
With a background in design, I bring a contemporary and thoughtful perspective to art, connecting traditional skills with modern aesthetics and real-world applications. Whether you are a beginner exploring art for the first time or someone looking to refine your skills, I aim to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where you can grow confidently.

About the lesson

Art is a journey of constant learning.
My methodology is rooted in the belief that every student has a unique pace. I begin by assessing your current skill level to decide if we start with the fundamentals of art or jump into more efficient, advanced techniques that will enhance your skills.

In my lessons, I focus on building a strong foundation in drawing and painting based on academic principles such as form, proportions, light, and color.

I use different materials (pencil, watercolor, gouache, etc.) to help students better understand the basics and develop visual thinking.

Traditional Media: Pencil sketching, Oil Pastels, Watercolors, Gouache, Charcoal Art and Acrylic on Canvas.

Digital Art ( using various software like Procreate, Krita etc. )

Art History: Indian and Western Art History

Fashion Illustration and Design Process (suitable for design aspirants)

I will draft the course according to your specific requirements and will be structured and adapted to the student’s level and goals, with clear explanations and step-by-step guidance.

My lessons are suitable for beginners and early intermediate students, including children, teenagers, and adults who want structured and supportive learning.

My goal is to equip you with the 'tricks of the trade' that make you feel confident as an artist!

Available for individual online sessions as well as in-person classes in Kolkata.
