About Sanjukta

I am a working scientist with PhD-level training, and my experience in real research labs has shaped how I teach biology. Spending years studying complex systems like cell signaling and immune responses has given me a deep understanding of where students struggle most—the confusing terminology, dense pathways, and the pressure to memorize without truly understanding.

Because I use these concepts in real scientific settings, I know which details matter, which ones can be simplified at first, and how to explain ideas in a way that builds intuition. I’ve seen firsthand how even advanced biology becomes manageable when it’s taught step-by-step, with clear logic and context.

As a tutor, I bring that perspective to high-school, AP Biology, college, and pre-med students. I focus on helping students develop strong foundations, confidence, and problem-solving skills, so biology feels learnable rather than overwhelming. My goal is to bridge the gap between textbook biology and how science actually works—making learning clearer, more meaningful, and far less stressful.

My approach as a tutor

I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind biology, not just memorize pathways. Topics like cell signaling can feel overwhelming because of unfamiliar names and complex cascades. I break them down into clear steps, simple visuals, and real-world analogies, so students can see how each piece fits together and why it matters for exams and future courses.

I encourage questions at every step and adapt the pace based on how comfortable you feel. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling confident, not rushed.

Teaching methods & techniques

1. Start with big-picture concepts before diving into details

2. Use everyday analogies (e.g., receptors as locks, ligands as keys)

3. Draw simplified pathway diagrams step-by-step

4. Actively check understanding with short questions

5. Reinforce learning using exam-style questions and scenarios

6. Connect concepts to disease, drugs, and real biology (pre-med focus)

A typical lesson plan (example: Cell Signaling)

Warm-up: What is cell signaling and why do cells need it?

Core concepts: Ligands, receptors, signal transduction, and response

Pathway walkthrough: GPCRs or receptor tyrosine kinases, step-by-step

Visual mapping: Build the pathway together in a clean, simple diagram

Application: What happens if one step fails? (disease/drug examples)

Exam practice: Short questions to test understanding, not memorization

Wrap-up: Key takeaways + how to study this topic independently

What sets me apart

1. PhD-level biology training with a strong focus on teaching

2. Experienced in breaking down complex molecular biology for beginners

3. Patient, supportive, and judgment-free learning environment

4. Emphasis on thinking like a scientist, not rote learning

5. Tailors explanations for high-school, college, or pre-med needs

Who these lessons are for

1. High-school biology students (AP Biology included)

2. College undergraduates in biology, biochemistry, or related majors

3. Pre-med students preparing for exams or strengthening foundations

Students who feel biology is “too complicated” and want clarity

Anyone who wants to actually understand Biology.
