About Kateryna

I am a professional cellist and teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and a Bachelor’s degree from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kyiv. I also hold an ABRSM Diploma in Music Teaching and am a Benedetti Foundation Ambassador.
I perform regularly in a variety of ensembles and projects, including Culture Code, the Progressive Time duo, and the folk trio Dukach. Although my main focus is classical music, I also enjoy playing pop, folk, and rock. Performing in different styles has given me a broad musical perspective, which I bring into my teaching.

About the lesson

I have experience teaching beginners, both children and adults, and love making lessons engaging, fun, and accessible. Whether you want to learn cello as a hobby, prepare for ABRSM Grades, or work towards an audition or music school/college entrance, I can help you build strong technique, musical understanding, confidence, and performance skills. I also offer music theory support upon request. My approach is flexible and student-centred, and I tailor lessons to each student’s needs, interests, and goals. I particularly enjoy helping students work towards a clear goal and seeing their progress over time. I believe that lessons should be enjoyable, but also purposeful, with a focus on achieving real results at a pace that works for each student.
I offer cello lessons in Glasgow, including home visits. I can also provide a student cello (3/4 or 4/4 size) for those starting out before buying their own instrument.

Perfect! As a total beginner, I was quite apprehensive about learning something as complex as the cello. However, Kateryna's patient, enthusiastic and curious approach to teaching meant that I was able to develop my skills, understanding and confidence whilst having lots of fun.
