My name is James and I was so glad to have found Weiwei as a Chinese teacher. I was taking Chinese lessons for HSK5 and I was also working at the same time during the weekdays. She have good communication skills, is very accomodating and flexible in accomodating my limited time during the weekends. She is very understanding of the capability, limitations, individual circumstances of her students. Her very well planned lessons are for the long term, addressing all the needs of HSK. She also have lots of books for learning Chinese to draw her lessons from and flexible enough to adapt her lessons depending on the response from myself.

I met Weiwei through a mutual interest in dancing salsa. We met in Shanghai at a time when I was living in Hangzhou. When I learned she was a professional teacher of Mandarin with more than ten years of experience teaching, I asked her to help me. We worked online because of our different locations. I found her to be very engaging as a teacher – lively, energetic, quick to respond to my questions or difficulties. I saw she could work either to a structured curriculum, such as the HSK series of books, or as in my case open-ended conversations that mirrored everyday use of Chinese. She had an easy-to-follow system as well for indicating the pronunciation of new words based on her own adaptation of pinyin to indicate the tones. She would do this in “real time” as our conversation online proceeded, so that at the end I had a full list of new words in characters, pinyin, and with the English translation(s). This shows that she is adaptable to the needs of each individual student, an ability I found that other teachers often lacked. I recommend her highly, whether in person or for online instruction.

I've been taking Chinese lessons with Wei Wei for over a year now. She encourages me to speak and I have improved a lot. She makes me feel comfortable and I really like her lessons. A great teacher!
