About Kathy
I am a certified, professional elementary-level teacher (primary and junior) with 22 years of experience! I am a member of the Ontario College of Teachers in good standing.
I have always tutored (usually after school) because I know that there is no better way to learn than to have the teacher's complete attention and to interact one-on-one.
I have a genuine desire to see children become successful, and give them the tools they need to become confident, independent learners.
My area of strength is that I am able to create entire learning programs based on the learner. I am well versed in curriculum and instruction as well as in strategies used for lesson delivery.

I put some serious fun into learning! My area of specialty is for children from Kindergarten to Grade 8 (ages 4 to 13). I can help with specific homework brought from school, help with projects, test preparation, or create a completely individualized program to suit your child's needs and interests.
During the first few lessons, I distinguish how your child learns best, and I use that to the learner's advantage. I will use every method that is available online:
- an interactive whiteboard that we can both write on at the same time
- songs and stories, including online videos
- interactive games on the screen, or games that we both play together
- activity-based learning where the learner uses materials from home to make something, color, or complete projects
- on-the-screen exercises and activities that we work through together
- note-taking in notebooks, and handouts to be printed by the parent.
I tailor all lessons to the child and design the learning experience in the best way to suit the learner. For example, I will break down a concept if needed, or happily move on to a new concept if the learner demonstrates quick mastery.
My online platform is specifically designed for tutoring online, so it offers all the above tools for teaching.
I am kind, compassionate, encouraging and I seek to build children's confidence in all subject areas. My lessons are well structured, sequential and professionally prepared.
Ongoing learners can expect a formal tutoring report once a month, outlining the topics covered, the progress of the learner, and future goals.
