About Charles
As a kid, I liked to "blow things up." We went through a lot of baking soda and vinegar back then...
I played football in college while majoring in chemistry and minoring in mathematics. I did not have all the time in the world to study long and hard to achieve success. In graduate school, I worked full-time in a production lab while teaching. It was hard and I struggled but I survived! Efficiency and discipline were key to maintaining my research and classroom time and extracurricular activities.
I bring that level of efficiency to teaching and to my fulltime job today.
Chemistry has taken me around the world and gives me a unique perspective on what is possible.

Do you suffer from exam anxiety? Are you stuck on a fundamental concept? Or do you feel your in-class instruction is poor and you want to achieve more?
I have taught chemistry at the college (GenChem, Organic, Analytical, Thermodynamics, and Biochem) and high school levels (AP and BI).
I am a very pragmatic learner and teacher. Chemistry and biochemistry should not be taught as a mystery nor should the mathematics require special calculus.
My typical lesson plan involves understanding your goals and desires for the course work. As a team, we will build out what is best to obtain those goals in a timely matter. It's hard to cram for a chemistry exam! We work to achieve those goals in a weekly or daily manner in manageable bites. You in-class performance will be the markers for your success.
