Professional Choral Conductor and Singer offering Singing and Theory Lessons in London

Jess became music director of a choir I used to sing in. I'd been having difficulty with reaching top notes and often had a sore throat. As she has such a beautiful soprano voice and is very hot on technique, I asked for singing lessons. After 15 months I asked to extend the time of the lessons to work on sightsinging. This has led to me learning more music theory.

Jess is very informal, very positive and full of fun. She's also a consummate professional. She creates a very safe space because she's very non-judgmental and interested in psychology. So she understands and works out what's getting in the way of singing psychologically as well as technically.

She's infused a great deal of technique into my singing, and this is an ongoing and openended process. There's always more to learn. But it's made a great difference to my singing and love of listening to singers of all genres and ages.

She's a perfectionist, so quite exacting, and very committed. In our lessons she's totally absorbed with helping me to sing, sightread and understand theory, using a forensic approach to finding and overcoming blocks. She knows everything is a process and is unendingly patient. In essence what you get from Jess is a mixture of high standards and infectious humour delivered with very positive energy.

Singing lessons with Jess are a joy. She’s incredibly supportive and encouraging, and has a fantastic ability to identify very precisely how to improve my technique.
So far all my lessons have been online which has worked brilliantly despite my initial scepticism, though I’m looking forward to being able to have face-to-face lessons in the future.
