About Paul

With 15+ years of experience as an educator and adolescent psychotherapist, and over 10 years as an editor, I can promise to help tackle your essays, whether academic or personal statements, with confidence and creativity.

Over the years, I've earned masters degrees from Oxford in sociology and Columbia in psychology, as well as spend a year on a graduate fellowship at Yale in philosophy. I've also edited college applications with Wyzant, Uncommon Apps, and Sentia Education. In addition, I've taught and mentored hundreds of students across the US and internationally. This includes working as a 10th grade English teacher, chess coach, curriculum developer, writing mentor, clinical social worker, social science researcher, summer camp director, and even professional storyteller and wilderness guide.

About the lesson

It's always a rewarding experience to guide high school and college students as they explore new fields of study, discover new passions, and in the process take a new look at their own stories.

I love teaching and aim to put my students first. I'm interested in finding out exactly where they are and then taking them on their next steps forward using a mix of firm challenging and empathetic hand holding - whatever is needed!

I'm genuinely and deeply passionate about the material I cover with students and I hope to share that passion as a means to nurture learning and excellence.
