About Patricia
My experience as a professional communicator and educator is the following:
Secondary English teacher - 3 years.
Technical Writer - 20 years.
Coordinator of a university Writing Center for 15 years.
I have a BA in English from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. I taught 9th grade English in an Oklahoma City public school for 2 years and in a Denver, CO, parochial school for 1 year.
I began my business writing career in banking, then became a technical writer in an energy company, then a corporate headquarters for a car rental company. I an now a technical writer for the US District Court. During my corporate career, I worked part time as the Coordinator of the Writing Center and Oklahoma University - Tulsa.

My teaching methodology regarding writing is to brain storm with the student about the subject he or she must write about to ensure that the student is fulfilling the assignment requirements. Then to discuss how to state the message the reader should understand after reading the essay, i.e., how to write the thesis sentence. The to guide the student through fleshing out the rest of the essay that provides details about the thesis statement.
