About Niamh
I am an enthusiastic Computer Programming tutor with 6 years of teaching experience, dedicated to helping students develop practical coding skills and a deep understanding of computer science. I teach learners at GCSE, A-Level, and university level, tailoring every lesson to meet individual academic goals and learning styles.
My areas of expertise include Python, Java, C, C++, algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, SQL, databases, software engineering, debugging, and application development. I enjoy simplifying complex programming concepts into manageable steps, making learning more engaging and effective.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students preparing for examinations, completing coursework, building software projects, and strengthening their coding abilities. Learning programming becomes much easier when lessons are structured, engaging, and tailored to your individual needs. I create a supportive environment where students at GCSE, A-Level, and university level can develop both technical knowledge and confidence through regular practice.
Each lesson begins with a review of previous learning before introducing new concepts through clear explanations and practical demonstrations. You will actively write code, complete programming challenges, and explore techniques used by professional developers. Topics include programming fundamentals, Python, Java, C++, algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, debugging strategies, databases, and software development principles.
My approach encourages curiosity and critical thinking rather than memorisation. I guide students through challenging questions, explain common mistakes, and provide effective methods for improving coding accuracy and efficiency. Lessons can also be adapted for exam revision, coursework, final-year projects, or interview preparation.
