About Eden
My name is Eden Longson and I am a published composer and professional working drummer.
In terms of composition, I was recently published by Universal Edition as part of my award for being the National Concert Band Festival Young Composer 2023. I have recently had premieres by the Rosamund Brass Quartet, the Talland String Quartet, the Saxophone Orchestra Manchester, as well as the Band of the RAF College.
As a drummer, I play a lot of show work and play in several big bands. Recently I was the drummer for the Liverpool Empire Youth Production of Legally Blonde, the Arden School's end of year productions of Addams Family and Pippin, and will be performing again at the Arden in late November for their production of Spend Spend Spend. Recently I had concerts with the MOJO Big Band at the legendary Vortex Jazz Club in Dalston, as well as the Danny Miller Big Band at the Tung Auditorium in Liverpool.
Whilst studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music I was awarded the Alan Barker Memorial Jazz Improvisation award from my drumming within the MIUAWGA Ensemble.
Back in 2017, my jazz trio and I performed on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown on Channel 4, which has been a real career highlight for me.

As a professional drummer I have worked within a variety of different musical projects and have extensive knowledge of various techniques and styles. I like to figure out what makes the student tick, and what interested the student towards drumming in the first place and go from there.
If the student enjoys jazz, let's learn some jazz. If they like drill, okay let's figure out how to drum along to that. But at the heart of it all is the fundamentals of drumming, rhythm, groove, and rudiments.
