About Tertius
I'm a professional engineer with a BSc in Mechatronics and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering (distinction), registered with ECSA. I've spent 17 years working in high-stakes engineering environments, and I now tutor Maths and Physics at GCSE and A-Level, as well as SolidWorks CAD and general engineering concepts for university students.
I understand exactly where students get stuck — not because I've read about it, but because I've applied this material in the real world. My teaching approach is practical: I build from fundamentals, work through problems step by step, and focus on making abstract concepts tangible.
I offer online sessions and, if you're in South West London, in-person sessions too. Whether you're aiming to improve a grade, catch up on a topic, or understand something properly for the first time, I'm happy to help.

My sessions are typically one hour, though I'm happy to do 90 minutes for students who want to cover more ground in one sitting.
I don't teach from a script. I start by finding out where the gaps actually are — not where the student thinks they are — and build from there. Most problems in Maths and Physics come down to a shaky foundation in an earlier concept, so I spend time getting that solid before moving forward. I use worked examples heavily, then hand the problem back to the student to work through themselves while I watch. That's where real understanding shows up.
My background is applied engineering — 17 years in industry, an MSc with distinction, and a patented medical device I designed and built myself. I bring that practical perspective into lessons. Abstract formulae make more sense when you can see why they exist.
I tutor GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, SolidWorks CAD, and general engineering at university level. I'm equally comfortable with a Year 11 student preparing for their first GCSE or an undergraduate stuck on a dynamics problem set. Sessions are available online or in person in South West London.
