About Jennifer

I am a professional flautist, alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music, and have performed with many of the world's top orchestras as both soloist and orchestral player. I have given masterclasses in Europe and the USA and have made many recordings.

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on responding to the needs of each individual student. I believe that if the student feels relaxed and open to new ideas and techniques they make rapid and very positive progress. I have developed many of my own practices over the years that achieve great results for my students.

Perfect! Jennifer is a unique, brilliant and inspirational flautist and flute teacher. She is very patient, kind and encouraging. I am currently working towards taking the Grade 8 ABRSM exam for the flute; and she has helped to improve my standard of playing overall, within about two months of having had lessons for an hour each week using Skype. Jennifer has taught me how to play the very high notes and has been teaching me how to double tongue on the flute. She explains how to play the technical side of different types of articulation, which has enabled me to play the flute much better. I would very much recommend Jennifer as a flute teacher as I really enjoy being taught by her!

I really enjoyed meeting Elizabeth and her mother, Teresa for the first lesson.
Elizabeth is already an excellent flautist, so it was easy to work with her and start developing her abilities.
We worked on tone development, particularly in the high register, breath control and phrasing.
I have suggested supportive repertoire, such as the 7 Daily Exercises by Reichert, Trevor Wye Tone Book and also practising from her Moyse Book - Massenet - Meditation. Extended scales in G major.

I am looking forward to giving you another lesson next week. Well done!
