About Wesley
I am a guitarist, composer, and music educator with many years of experience working across performance, teaching, and audio production. My background is rooted in classical guitar, with additional experience in flamenco and contemporary instrumental music. Over the years, I have worked with students of different ages and abilities, both privately and within formal educational settings. Alongside teaching, I have remained active as a performing and recording musician, which strongly shapes how I approach lessons. I value practical, musically grounded learning, and I aim to help students understand what they are playing rather than simply moving quickly through material. My experience includes long-running private teaching as well as structured instrumental work, allowing me to adapt to different learning styles and goals. I place a strong emphasis on consistency, patience, and clear communication. Lessons are thoughtfully prepared, but always flexible, and progress is approached realistically rather than rushed. My teaching approach is grounded in strong musical foundations, clarity, and individual development. I work from a classical guitar base, incorporating elements of flamenco and broader instrumental music to help students build solid technique, musical understanding, and confidence over time. Lessons are structured but flexible, always adapted to the goals, pace, and interests of the individual student.
I focus on developing good posture, sound production, rhythm, and musical awareness, alongside reading skills and repertoire where appropriate. Rather than rushing material, I prioritise depth, consistency, and listening, helping students understand how and why things work, not just what to play. This creates lasting progress and independence as a musician.
I teach in English and am comfortable explaining concepts clearly and patiently, whether working with beginners or more advanced students. A typical lesson includes focused technical work, musical application through pieces or exercises, and practical guidance on practice methods so students know what to work on between lessons.
My lessons are suited to beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, including adults and teenagers who are serious about improving their playing. I work particularly well with students who value a calm, structured environment and want to develop real musical skills rather than quick shortcuts. Whether your goal is personal enjoyment, formal study, or deeper musical understanding, lessons are tailored to support steady and meaningful progress.
