About Nora
I am a guitar tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz, Guitar Principal. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar, with a focus on media composition. My lessons are designed for students interested in film scoring and video game soundtracks. I emphasize creating atmospheric textures, thematic development, and exploring sound design. Working with digital audio workstations (DAWs) is an essential part of my teaching. I take a student-centered approach, tailoring each lesson to individual goals and skill levels. Both youth and adult learners benefit from my methods. Students develop technical skills while learning to compose and perform music that enhances storytelling. Lessons include tone shaping, phrasing, and creating layered guitar parts. I guide students in melody, harmony, rhythm, and stylistic choices for media contexts. I also help students integrate guitar with electronic and orchestral elements. Creativity and imagination are encouraged alongside solid technique. Each session is hands-on and practical, preparing students for real-world composition. Students practice composing cues, motifs, and textures for various moods and scenes. I provide guidance on both improvisation and structured composition. My teaching approach focuses on developing your ear and aural skills for guitar. I cover ear training, melodic dictation, transcribing songs, and interval recognition. Students learn to identify melodies, chords, and rhythms by ear. I work with The Campfire Strummer and The Blues Seeker, providing exercises tailored to their style and goals. Lessons include call-and-response exercises, singing, and hands-on guitar practice. I emphasize recognizing intervals, chord progressions, and melodic patterns in different musical contexts. Transcription exercises help students understand song structure and phrasing. Each lesson is personalized to match the student’s skill level. Students practice a combination of listening, singing, and playing exercises. I guide them in identifying harmonies and chord tones within songs. Exercises are designed to strengthen both short-term and long-term aural memory. I encourage consistent practice to develop musical intuition. Lessons also explore improvisation and melodic creativity. Students gain confidence in picking out melodies, chords, and rhythms by ear. I provide immediate feedback and strategies to overcome challenges. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and practical. Students develop a deeper understanding of music theory through listening. My goal is to unlock musical understanding and make music more intuitive.
