About Daniel

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. During that time I have refreshed my knowledge by taking collegiate level guitar playing and theory classes. I have also played professionally in numerous bands and ensembles during that time and I have been teaching for over 20 years.

I see myself as a facilitator of learning, not just a source of information. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively participating in the learning process.

Here are some specific techniques I use:

Active Recall & Spaced Repetition: Instead of just passively reviewing material, I encourage students to actively recall information from memory. This strengthens neural pathways and improves retention. I also incorporate spaced repetition, revisiting concepts at increasing intervals to solidify understanding.

Concept Mapping & Visual Aids: I often use visual aids like diagrams, sheet music, and tablature to help students organize information and see the connections between different concepts. This is especially helpful for visual learners.

Real-World Applications: I try to connect abstract concepts to real-world examples of playing. This makes the material more relevant and engaging, and helps students see the practical value of what they're learning.

Personalized Learning: I understand that every student learns differently. I tailor my approach to each individual's learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. I take the time to understand their goals and challenges, and I adapt my teaching methods accordingly.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

Start by reviewing the previous lesson's material to ensure understanding and address any lingering questions.
