About the lesson
My teaching method derives from the way I was taught: emphasis on technique, music theory, exercises, pieces, and performance standards. Students will not only learn the "how's" of technique, but the "why's" so they make progress towards excellent performance. Students are encouraged to perform to help improve their playing and confidence. Performing for friends, YouTube posts, or "live" Facebook is considered performance too!

I’ve worked with Elizabeth for almost four years now, and I’ve come such a long way as a harpist! She’s patient and genuinely wants to help everyone reach their potential. I’ve always felt that I can ask questions or ask for help without judgement, and I’m fortunate to be in her studio!
I found Elizabeth online and chose her over other available harp instructors, and what a stroke of good fortune that was! I’ve been taking weekly lessons from Elizabeth for almost two years now. When I first started I had never even TOUCHED a harp, let alone know if I would enjoy playing one. This was fine with Elizabeth; she was willing and able to take me from the absolute novice stage to where I am now (early intermediate).
Elizabeth guided me through renting a harp, then renting a bigger harp, to buying my first harp and how I have three! She was with me every step of the way. In addition to teaching me how to play the harp, she taught me how to tune it properly, care for it, change a string, and safely transport my harp.
As a beginning adult learner, what I appreciate about Elizabeth’s teaching style is that she is able to find songs for me to play that I like and want to learn, as opposed to having to play children’s songs. Each new song would expose me to a technique that I needed to learn to progress. Most recently Elizabeth is guiding me as I attempt to arrange a song for harp for the first time!
Elizabeth is an experienced, caring, and fun instructor. She knows how to provide the best learning experience for each student. I most highly recommend her!View more recommendations
