About Yael

My relationship with performing arts started early. I grew up dancing in a troupe before discovering circus arts — juggling, figure skating, drama, and briefly, unicycling. Movement and performance were always where I felt most at home.
It wasn't until the end of high school that everything clicked. I found a hula hoop at school, took it home, and spent an entire summer teaching myself. That summer turned into circus training camps, which turned into a performance practice I've now been developing for over 12 years.

What kept me hooked wasn't just the skill — it was what movement did for me. Hooping, poi, silk fans — these arts reconnected me to my body and unlocked a confidence and creativity I hadn't found anywhere else. That's what I want to give my students. Not just a trick or a routine, but a genuine relationship with movement and the freedom that comes with it.

I've performed at major festivals and corporate events, and over the years teaching has become one of the most rewarding parts of this journey — watching someone walk away from a session moving in a way they didn't think they could.

About the lesson

About My Teaching:

Every lesson is tailored to your age, experience level, and physical abilities — no two students follow the same path. Sessions are structured so you always finish having learned a choreography, giving you something concrete to take away and practice.

Lesson Progression:

- Foundations — Off body and on body hooping basics
- Flow & Movement — Learning to move freely with your chosen prop, developing personal style
- Combinations — Linking moves and building sequences
- Choreography — Every session ends with a completed routine to take away and practice
- Advanced Performance — Stage presence, audience engagement, costume sourcing, character development, and how to build an artist bio and apply for festival bookings

Fire Hooping is available as an advanced progression following a required number of foundational lessons. In person only — subject to location.

Rhythmic Gymnastics integration is available for younger students incorporating hoops into their gymnastics training.

Group & Online Lessons:

Online and in person, individually or in groups. Online group lessons are capped at 3 — larger groups require in person sessions. Group pricing is based on numbers.

All ages and levels welcome, from complete beginners to performing artists looking to refine and elevate their craft.

Travel & Pricing
In person lessons are offered within a 10km radius of Moorabbin at no additional travel cost.

10–25km — $15 travel fee
25–40km — $30 travel fee
40km+ — by arrangement

Online and in person lessons are priced the same.

60 minutes — $50
90 minutes — $60

Session Packs
60 minute sessions:

5 sessions — $225 (save $25)
10 sessions — $425 (save $75)

90 minute sessions:

5 sessions — $275 (save $25)
10 sessions — $525 (save $75)

First Session
Your first session is a free 1 hour introductory lesson via webcam, allowing me to assess your current level and tailor our lessons accordingly. Please note that for in person first sessions, standard travel fees still apply.

Equipment
Students will need their own hula hoop before we begin. I stock a limited number of polypro hoops available at a discounted rate, and also offer hoops on lease — just get in touch to discuss availability. Alternatively I can refer you to a retailer where you can purchase a hoop in the right size and style for you.

Group Lessons
For large group lessons requiring a dedicated indoor venue outside of a student's home, studio or room hire fees will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Online Lessons
Online group lessons are capped at 3 students. Larger groups require in person sessions. A working device and reliable internet connection are required for all online lessons.
