About Shaun
I’m Shaun Reeves, a Detroit-based DJ, producer and cofounder of Visionquest. I’ve been DJing professionally for more than 20 years, performing at clubs and festivals around the world and working alongside many of the artists who shaped contemporary electronic music.
My experience spans vinyl, CDJs and digital DJing, as well as music production, record labels, event programming and the wider music industry. I’ve played everything from intimate clubs to major international festivals, but my approach to DJing has always remained rooted in selection, storytelling and connecting with a dance floor.
I enjoy passing on what I’ve learned over the years in a practical, relaxed way. Whether you’re touching decks for the first time or already playing professionally, I can help you develop both the technical skills and musical confidence to become a better DJ.

I teach DJing as more than just beatmatching. We’ll work on track selection, programming, phrasing, mixing, EQ, building energy and developing your own musical identity. Lessons can cover vinyl, CDJs and digital workflows, from complete beginners to experienced DJs looking to refine their craft. My approach comes from more than 20 years of playing clubs and festivals around the world, with an emphasis on understanding why a mix or a set works, not just the mechanics of making it happen.

Details
Lessons are $70 per hour. Discounted packages are available for students who want to work together regularly. Lessons can be tailored to your experience level and goals, from learning the fundamentals to advanced mixing, programming, track selection and developing your own sound. Lessons at my Detroit studio include access to a professional DJ setup. Online sessions are also available. For lessons at your location, additional travel costs may apply depending on distance.
