About Nava
My name is Nava Payandeh, and I am a professional musician and educator with a strong background in flute performance, music theory, music history, early childhood music, and general music education. I hold a Master of Music degree from Montclair State University with full scholarship support, and I have experience teaching students of various ages, levels, and musical backgrounds in both in-person and online settings.
My teaching approach is highly personalized, supportive, and goal-oriented. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt lessons based on the student’s personality, experience level, learning style, and musical interests. I always aim to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring creativity, and building confidence.
A typical lesson may include technique development, rhythm and notation work, music theory connections, ear training, repertoire, listening skills, and practical musicianship. For younger students, I incorporate interactive and engaging activities to keep learning fun and accessible. For more advanced students, I focus on deeper musical understanding, interpretation, and strengthening technical and analytical skills.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of strong academic training, performance experience, and genuine passion for teaching. I value not only helping students improve technically, but also helping them develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of music. My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students, including children, adults, hobby learners, and students preparing for auditions, school programs, or personal musical growth.
