About Lizzy
I’m Lizzy, a professional oboist and master’s-qualified music teacher with a Master of Performance (Distinction) from the Royal College of Music. I teach oboe, recorder, music theory, and musicianship through private lessons and with several music services across London. With extensive experience performing with top UK orchestras such as Opera North and the Buxton International Opera Orchestra, I bring real-world insight into my teaching. I’m passionate about creating inclusive, student-centred lessons that nurture confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. I tailor my approach to suit each student’s goals and learning styles, integrating music theory seamlessly into practical playing. Drawing on a range of holistic methods, I aim to build strong technical foundations while making lessons engaging and accessible to all, including those with SEND. Teaching allows me to share my love for music and support each student’s unique journey in a welcoming, supportive environment. Whether performing, leading workshops, or teaching, my goal is to inspire and empower students to discover and express their own musical voice.

My teaching approach is student-centred, inclusive, and flexible. Lessons are tailored to each individual’s goals, learning style, and pace, with a strong emphasis on building solid technical foundations. I draw on a range of holistic methods to support musical and personal development, and I integrate music theory into instrumental lessons to deepen understanding and musicianship. I am experienced in working with students with SEND and believe in making music accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for everyone.
