About Holly
I am a classical soprano, recently graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I completed a Bachelor degree and two Masters. During my studies, I completed a number of teaching modules with distinction, and have also taught freelance for three years. Before I joined the Guildhall, I completed my Diploma with distinction on the flute, and am also offering flute lessons. I’d love to share some of my knowledge and love of music, whether in pursuit of graded exams, or for the general enthusiast, and am comfortable teaching at all levels.

When approaching any kind of music, the most important thing to remember is that it should be fun! There’s no point making sounds for the sake of it. This philosophy is embedded in every aspect of my teaching. One of the first things I want to do with any student is find out what they want from their music-making and tailor the classes to suit those needs. I find some students are really interested in getting to grips with the technical side of the sound, while others are more interested in finding freedom of expression. The most important thing is to find what will make a student feel confident enough to enjoy themselves both in the lesson and when practising outside it.
One of the most important aspects of learning to play music, is also learning to listen to it, so I always encourage students to bring me their own ideas of things they’d like to play or sing, or even just to have a chat about music they’ve come across during the week.
I’d be delighted to take on both school-age children and adult learners, both for graded exam preparation and for general musical education. I’m always careful to tailor my teaching to the individual needs and wants of the student, and I’d love to help you express yourself however you feel comfortable.
