About Andrea
Praised for her “blinding brilliance,” Canadian Soprano Andrea Núñez is establishing herself as a versatile young artist. Upcoming, Andrea returns to Opéra de Montréal to debut Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème.
The 2023/2024 season began with Andrea performing the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at Opéra de Montréal. She then proceeded to make two role and house debuts as Donna Elvira in Edmonton Opera's Don Giovanni and Elvira in Voicebox: Opera in Concert's Ernani where she was praised for her "gorgeous, burnished tones" (La Scena Musicale) and for having a "glorious voice, like crystals falling through the air" (Ludwig Van Toronto).
In the 22/23 season saw Andrea make her house debut at Pacific Opera Victoria, singing Frasquita in their production of Bizet’s Carmen, and a return to Toronto Operetta Theatre for Adele in Die Fledermaus, where she was praised for her “sexy, funny” characterization (OperaRamblings) and “brilliant colouratura” (BarczaBlog). She also debuted Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Opéra du Royaume and Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata with Brott Opera in the Spring/Summer season. She recently completed a residency at National Sawdust, working with celebrated librettist Royce Vavrek and composer Vivian Fung on a cycle of songs centred on her identity and experiences as a multi-racial Canadian, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.

With over a decade of professional performing experience, I am able to use my knowledge of the performance industry to help my students gain confidence in their performing ability, as well as, create a solid technical foundation. My training is primarily in classical music, specifically in opera, but I have experience in musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz. As a classical musician, I have lyric diction experience in Italian, French, German, and Spanish.
I have successfully prepared students for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations (Levels 1 to ARCT) and university/conservatory auditions. Having also worked at the Royal Conservatory of Music in an administrative capacity, it has given me a wealth of knowledge regarding their syllabi and exam expectations.
During our lessons, we will work on proper vocal technique (breath support, vowel placement, optimal resonance) and selecting repertoire that best suits your voice and your level of singing. For students interested in university/conservatory preparation, our main focus will be ensuring your repertoire choices showcase you in the best light, polishing your languages, as well as enhancing your dramatic portrayal and stage presence.
