About Rayna

I started off singing "Earth, Wind and Fire" in the car with my father and karaoke to the Cheetah girls since I was three years old. I sometimes think I'm lucky to have found my passion early on. Music is an art that can be learned at any time. Music has a way of bringing people together and creating connections that transcend language and culture. Music has taught me so much about myself and who I want to become as a person.

I received my Bachelor of Music at the Manhattan School of Music in 2021. My first operatic debut was the following summer in Albert Herring as Miss Wordsworth. I decided to move across the country and completed my Master of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2023 and a Professional Studies Certificate in 2024. While at SFCM, I've had the privilege to perform in multiple mainstage operas as well as perform with West Edge Opera for their summer season and Snapshot program. In 2024, I performed the West Coast premiere of Death of a Little Girl with Doves by Jeremy Beck with The SFCM Orchestra and San Francisco Ballet Orchestra (video below)

During my time in New York, I was a voice teacher for middle school students for two years. While in San Francisco, I was voice/piano faculty and co-directed the LMS Show Choir at Little Mission Studio.

At the moment, I am able to accommodate virtual lessons, but I travel often. If there's space for an in-person lesson, I will let you know ahead of time!

About the lesson

All voices are different, so my method is to mold with your individual voice! We will have a focus on technique and start with the basics, then branch out into what you're really wanting to do.

The beginning of our lessons will begin with a check-in. As singers, we give a lot in our expressions. Sometimes when there are hard days, our voice may not be co-operating the way we want to. We don't have to get into details if you prefer not to, but if you feel the need to let it out, you have a safe space with me. Afterwards, we will dive into breath work and scales. From here, we can choose the best warm-ups for you that not only suit you, but are exciting enough to have you warming up yourself!

Our lessons will end with an assignment to take home and bring for the following lesson (listen to the recording from your lesson and write down three points that stuck out to you, what are some goals you have for yourself this month or even next lesson, what would you like from me as your teacher to help you on your journey better, etc)
