About Mehdi
I am a professional operatic singer and voice teacher with international performance experience across Europe and North America. I am a Canadian citizen from Montreal and a graduate of McGill University, where I completed my Bachelor of Music in Voice (Opera Performance). I am currently active in the professional opera field, with ongoing and upcoming engagements, allowing me to bring real, up-to-date industry experience into my teaching.
My work as a singer and educator is grounded in solid classical technique, vocal health, and stylistic authenticity. I have experience working with singers of various levels and backgrounds, and I approach teaching with clarity, professionalism, and respect for each individual voice. I place strong emphasis on sustainable vocal development, musical understanding, and artistic growth.
Students can expect a serious yet supportive learning environment, guided by a teacher who combines academic training with real-world professional insight. My goal is to help singers build confidence, technical freedom, and a deeper understanding of their voice, whether they are studying for personal development, academic goals, or professional aspirations.

Teaching Approach and Method
My approach as a voice and opera tutor is rooted in solid classical vocal technique, vocal health, and individual development. As a professional operatic singer currently active in the field, I base my teaching on real performance experience and on techniques that are practical, sustainable, and applicable to today’s professional and academic singing environments.
I believe that every voice is unique. Rather than forcing a rigid method, I adapt my teaching to each student’s vocal anatomy, musical background, and artistic goals. My work focuses on breath management, efficient support, freedom in the throat, resonance balance, legato singing, and stylistic accuracy, particularly in the classical and operatic repertoire. I place strong emphasis on developing a healthy technique that allows the voice to grow naturally without strain.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
In lessons, we work on:
-Breath coordination and support
-Vocal placement and resonance
-Legato and phrasing
-Registration and passaggio work
-Diction and pronunciation (especially Italian and French repertoire)
- Musical interpretation and stylistic understanding
-Technical exercises are always connected to repertoire, so students understand why they are doing something and how to apply it directly to singing. I also help students build effective practice habits so progress continues outside the lesson.
A typical lesson begins with a short vocal warm-up designed specifically for the student’s voice and current needs. This is followed by targeted technical work, addressing any challenges that arise in the repertoire. We then apply the technique directly to arias, art songs, or audition pieces, focusing on musical expression, text, and interpretation. Each lesson ends with clear feedback and practical guidance on what to practice and how to practice it efficiently.
Lessons are structured but flexible, always adapting to the student’s progress and immediate goals.
What sets me apart is that I am an active professional opera singer, currently performing and preparing professional engagements. This allows me to offer up-to-date insight into auditions, repertoire choices, stylistic expectations, and the realities of the profession. I combine academic training from McGill University with international performance experience, offering students both technical depth and practical guidance.
I also work in a multilingual environment and am comfortable teaching international students, helping them navigate language, diction, and stylistic differences in classical singing.
