Teaching firearms classes is very different from teaching math or music because there is no fear in making a mistake doing geometry that could potentially injure someone. That's why I spend a lot of time in the classroom setting with no real guns or live ammunition. I use prop, toy, and airsoft guns to make sure students get familiar and can demonstrate safe and proper handling of weapons before we even get to a shooting range. One technique or method I try to use is separating male, female, & youth with their own peer groups. This is for bigger classes and only because male and female have different learning traits and factors. I go into detail why in class. I dont split up family classes unless there is a big discrepancy in skill levels.
I have over 17 years of combined civilian and military experience teaching people how to safely handle and operate a variety of small arms. I am certified currently with Texas DPS as a License to Carry Instructor as well as the NRA. I received medals in Expert Pistol and Expert Rifle, and qualified at the highest level in combat shotgun. (awards not given for shotgun) Expert status for NRA Pistol and Defensive Pistol Marksman. In addition I am a Winchester Youth Instructor and also a competitive shooter in my spare time.
Rates subject to change and dependent on type of class among other factors. IE: gun rental and ammunition furnished, travel, third party range fees, and late cancellation. Deposit required on some classes. Specific quotes provided before hand.
