About Ed
I have been playing pool for over 50 years, starting when I was 12 years old, and won my first competition at the age of 17. This was the Boys Club of Queens NYC Team event sponsored by the Billiard Congress of America (BCA). In 1992 my wife and I started a family business, Califon Billiards, located in Califon, New Jersey which we ran successfully for 10 years until we sold it in 2002. During this time I taught hundreds of students both individually and in groups and became certified through the BCA's Instructor program. I was then recruited by the BCA and later became a BCA Certified Pocket Billiard Referee. I retired from refereeing as a Head Referee from Cue Sports International (CSI) that acquired the Referee program from the BCA. I attribute my personal billiard eduction from limited mentoring and watching some of the greatest Pocket Billiard players that ever lived, including Joe "The Meatman" Balsis, Michael Eufemia, Onofrio Lauri, Luther"Whimpy Lassiter, Irving "The Deacon "Crane, Cicero Murphy, "Machine Gun" Lou Butera, Johnny Ervolino, and a local N.Y. player and pool friend Gene Nagy. I currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada and offer Pocket Billiard Lessons in the local area by appointment. Lessons are generally given at Good Timez Billiards in Las Vegas but can be done at a location of choice.

The basis for my lessons focuses on the basic fundamentals and the utilization of a pocket billiard shooting system referred to as the "PEP" system which I personally developed. "PEP" stands for Pre-shot routine, Execution, and Post-shot routine.
