About Nicholas
I hold a BM in Clarinet Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and MM in Clarinet Performance from the University of Texas Butler School of Music, and I have been performing professionally in Central Texas since 2016. Generally you'll find me performing traditional jazz and early swing, however my musical education is thoroughly rooted in classical teaching. I currently play reeds for Asleep at the Wheel and The Dirty River Jazz Band. I have performed and trained with members of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band including John Sheridan, Allan Vache, Evan Christopher, Kevin and Mark Hess, Ric Ramirez, and Rich Oppenheim, and pursued advanced classical studies with Ronald Aufmann of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Jonathan Gunn of the University of Texas. I maintain a highly active touring and local performance schedule throughout the calendar year

I approach music with an understanding that we all have a different physical make-up, which in turn affects how we approach the instrument. Whether you wish to pursue clarinet or the saxophone family, there are typical techniques that are proven to improve performance that can be adapted to each performer. My goal is to find what works for you and help you improve as a musician. I cater to all levels of performance, and have the unique ability to approach music from the classical or commercial/jazz angle. I look forward to working with you.
