About Johnathan

My name is Johnathan, and I am a professional illustrator with experience working in the television industry as well as in educational and classroom settings. My background allows me to bridge real-world industry practices with clear, structured teaching methods that support student growth at every stage.

Through my work in TV and media production, I’ve gained hands-on experience with visual storytelling, deadlines, collaboration, and professional workflows. Alongside this, my classroom and tutoring experience has taught me how to communicate complex artistic concepts in ways that are accessible, engaging, and adaptable to different learning styles.

I value patience, clarity, and encouragement in my teaching. I focus on helping students understand foundational principles—such as form, composition, and visual communication—while also supporting creative confidence and independent thinking. Hi, I’m Johnathan, a professional illustrator and remote tutor focused on helping beginners and intermediate students build strong creative foundations with confidence.

My teaching approach is structured, encouraging, and highly visual. I believe illustration is a skill that grows through understanding fundamentals first—such as shape, form, light, and storytelling—before developing personal style. I adapt each lesson to your goals, pace, and learning style, whether you’re drawing for fun, building a portfolio, or preparing for art school or creative work.

A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up exercise to loosen the hand and eye, followed by focused instruction on a specific topic (such as anatomy, perspective, composition, or digital techniques). We then apply the lesson through guided drawing, live feedback, and practical exercises you can continue independently between sessions.

What sets my tutoring apart is my emphasis on why things work, not just how to draw them. I break complex concepts into clear, repeatable steps and share professional workflows used in illustration, comics, and visual development. My goal is to help you think like an artist, not just copy images.
