About Sahel

I remember when I was taking group vocal lessons myself, and one of my fellow students was struggling with their mixed voice. He is a man with a very deep voice, so getting up there was quite a challenge for him. He told me this during a rehearsal one day, and I wanted to help him get there, and I did! It's a short success story, but that's when I realised the glow that comes with helping someone achieve something, and I decided to do it more.

As a vocalist who has developed her voice mostly on her own, when I got some teaching I realised how useful it was. There are things I'd been doing that I didn't have a name for and just naming it made me more self-aware and increased my ability to control my voice. I also developed techniques to keep my voice healthy, which I stress for every vocalist I meet who I think may need it.

In short, music and the arts are a core piece of the soul in every culture, and to be able to help share that with those beginning their journey or improving themselves is really rather beautiful.

About the lesson

Hello! I am a professional vocalist wanting to share my skills with anybody who wants to begin their vocal journey.

I take on a mixture of a technical and holistic approach, helping students understand their voice is an extension of their body, and encouraging them to visualise their body as the instrument. My lessons are tailored to the individual; depending on your needs and goals, I can help you on your journey!

My focuses include:

- Breath control and reducing tension
- Pitch accuracy and vocal control
- Building tone and confidence
- Most importantly, learning songs you enjoy, broken down into manageable sections

I have a strong background in music and songwriting, with experience performing and writing original material. My work in spoken word and music has given me a deep understanding of vocal expression, storytelling, and connecting emotionally through voice, and it's a skill that I believe is helpful to everyone, even if only a little.

I offer 45min, 60min and 1h15 lessons for beginners of all ages or anyone hoping to improve their stage confidence.
