About Rebecca

I have spent over five years helping people discover the incredible joy of using their voices. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance, but my absolute favorite students to teach are adult beginners, casual hobbyists, and those returning to music after a long break. Many of my students are preparing to sing in community choirs, local karaoke nights, or casual social gatherings.

I make sure my studio is a low pressure, encouraging space where you can learn at your own comfortable pace. In our lessons, we focus on foundational habits like healthy breathwork, physical relaxation, and comfortable posture. I also bring mindfulness into my teaching to help you overcome performance anxiety and develop a warm, natural tone.

We can explore a wide variety of musical styles together, including jazz, folk, blues, and contemporary adult music. I remember working with a local adult student who was terrified of singing in front of anyone but wanted to join a neighborhood folk group. We worked on basic tone projection and simple breathing exercises, and they recently performed their first group show with complete confidence.

I am incredibly passionate about helping people discover singing as a beautiful form of self-care, personal creativity, and daily confidence. It is never too late to start or restart your singing journey for pure enjoyment, and I look forward to welcoming you into our sessions.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology focuses deeply on developing vocal dexterity and control so you can sing with effortless grace. We will spend a lot of time working on vocal agility, fast runs and riffs, and the expressive art of melisma. I help you break down complex vocal passages into small, manageable patterns that are easy to practice.

I work quite often with small ensemble singers who need to sing intricate lines and traditional instrumentalists who want to add fast vocal ornaments to their melodies. For example, I recently coached a classical violinist who wanted to learn how to add fast R&B style runs to their vocal tracks. We practiced slow scale patterns first to build up physical coordination before speeding the tempo up.

Within a few weeks, they were navigating fast embellishments with total pitch accuracy and freedom. We will work on building your muscle memory so that these fast notes sound clean and completely natural. My goal is to support you as you master these advanced techniques and excel in your musical journey.

I will help you transition between notes smoothly without any throat tension or vocal fatigue. Together, we will build the confidence you need to make your vocal decorations truly shine.
